The National Biodiversity Mapping System has been developed by the National Biodiversity Data Centre as a tool for the geographic presentation of observational data on Ireland’s biological data. This is a free service to enable data providers to display their data in association with other biodiversity and environmental datasets.
The display of data on this system fulfils three functions:
It makes biological data more widely available,
It brings added value to data by aiding in interpretation of distribution information,
It optimises the value of biodiversity data to assist conservation and research.
